Witold Kazimierski is an associate professor at Faculty of Navigation in Maritime University of Szczecin. He has graduated Master Degree course in Navigation at this Faculty in 2003 and since 2004 he has worked there as researcher and lecturer. Simultaneously he was working on merchant vessels serving as navigational officer and hydrographic surveyor. In 2008 he received Ph.D. degree in the same Faculty for the work entitled “The method of estimation of movement vector for maneuvering targets in the process of radar target tracking”. Also in 2008 he has graduated postgraduate studies on Geographical Information Systems at Faculty of Computer Science in Technical University of Szczecin. In 2013 he became laureate of TOP500 Innovators Programme by Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and was attending a special two-month programme on research management and commercialization in the University of California Berkeley.

In 2017 he received postdoctoral lecturing qualification (habilitation) from Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of Warsaw Technical University in the field of geodesy and cartography on the basis of the cycle of publications entitled “Integration of navigational spatial information about observed floating objects”.

In the scientific research he undertakes the issues related to anti-collision systems for floating devices (including autonomous surface vessels), spatial data integration, spatial analysis for navigational and hydrographic data and using of artificial intelligence in navigation and hydrography. He is a co-author of two patented inventions. He is an author or co-author of more than 80 publications in journals and conference proceedings and chapters in 2 monographs. He led 2 research projects on mobile cartography and navigational systems and he also participate in other projects in the field of navigational systems for floating vessels. He is a co-author of concept of pilot implementation of River Information Services in Poland.

In 2012 and 2013 he was a member of Polish delegation for sessions of NAV Sub_Commitee in International Maritime Organization as an expert. He is also a reviewer in Horizon 2020 programme be European Commission.
