The Committee of Geodesy of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS), established in 1952, is a self-governing representation of the discipline of geodesy and cartography integrating scientists over the country.

The range of activities of the Committee of Geodesy PAS includes significant problems in the discipline of geodesy and cartography. In particular, the Committee's tasks include:

  • disseminating the results of debates, discussions and conferences in the discipline of geodesy and cartography,
  • assessments of the status and needs of the discipline of geodesy and cartography and related research institutions,
  • preparation of opinions, assessments, expert opinions and predictions regarding the geodesy and cartography scientific discipline,
  • cooperation with the authorities of the PAS and research institutes in supporting the development of a career of young scientists,
  • cooperation in the implementation and dissemination of the results of research,
  • attention to the contribution of Polish science in the development of international science, including the development of international cooperation,,
  • collaboration with other scientific committees of Sciences within the framework of multidisciplinary scientific studies,
  • evaluation of scientific publications,
  • patronage seminars, conferences and scientific symposia,
  • organizing scientific debates, discussions and conferences.

The Committee of Geodesy PAS under the authority of the National Committee of Cooperation with the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) of the Presidium of the PAS stimulates the international cooperation of the Polish scientists, particularly young scientists in the framework of the International Association of Geodesy (IAG).
